Food Pantry
St. Martha's Food Pantry, located in the basement of the Lazarus House Shelter, supplies
emergency food supplies to as many as 300 families each week. Every Wednesday afternoon men, women and children line up outside the front gate of
Lazarus House to receive enough food to last them up to four days.
During the week, bagged lunches are given out to those who may have to work, but do not have enough money to buy meals. The
food that is distributed has been donated by local businesses, agencies and food banks, churches and individuals. In the summer
months, Lazarus House is blessed with donations of fresh vegetables from people's gardens.
At Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, food baskets are distributed to more than 700 families in the area.
In addition, Lazarus House, through the help of hundreds of volunteers, sponsors and services complete holiday meals to as many as 750 people.
Our Goals
To provide food to anyone who is hungry and comes to our door.
To eliminate hunger within our community so that people are better able to face their other daily challenges - sustaining housing, paying rent, pursuing jobs, and completing educations. |
